TN Assembly Elections 2011 - Kmhouseindia's Prediction of expected results
The ruling party DMK faces the election against the AIADMK combine which arithmaticlly holds a stronger alliance in terms of percentage of votes polled in earlier elections by the respective alliance partners.
It is said that AIADMK combine will get around 160-170 out of the 234 seats because of strong alliance partners who together can garner around 47-50% votes
Whereas DMK combine is expected to get around 70 seats only out of the 234 seats for the assembly
.This is so because of several factors like-

AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa took over as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the third time on Monday. Jayalalithaa and her Cabinet colleagues were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala in Chennai
The 34-member AIADMK ministry to be sworn in on Monday with J Jayalalithaa as its Chief Minister will be the largest Cabinet in the history of Tamil Nadu since independence.
(As per the Constitution (91st Amendment) Act 2003, the number of Ministers should not exceed 15 per cent of the total strength of the State Assembly (234). As per this rule, the Chief Minister can appoint 35 ministers, but Jayalalithaa chose to appoint 34.The DMK, which won in 96 seats in 2006, had 30 ministers in the Cabinet)
Giving opportunity to the youngsters and new faces seems to be the keyword behind the appointment of the ministers.
BesidesJayalalithaa, there are only 2 women ministers - S Gokula Indira (Commercial Taxes and Registration) and Selvi Ramajayam (Social Welfare)

The Election Commission has made it clear that voters would be allowed to exercise their franchise in the April 13 TN assembly polls either by displaying Elector's Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or by using voter's slip. "They have to either bring the EPIC card or the voter's slip to the polling booth for casting their vote.
Southern region may be key to power in TN polls
Southern districts Madurai, Sivaganga, Theni, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari (nine districts with 58 constituencies) -- have always been with AIADMK ever since it was floated by late MGR.
However,with Union Minister and DMKs strongman M K Alagiri making the winning majority of the seats from this region as a prestige issue, stakes are high for the ruling party in the region.
TN Assembly Polling
Tamil Nadu witnessed around 78% of polling for its 234 member state assembly elections. Karur district followed by the Ariyalur recorded the highest voting percentage of 86% and 84% respectively. About 3.66 crore voters of the total electorate of 4.71 crore casted their vote on Wednesday (13 April 2011).

Due to some disruption and stray incidents the election commission has ordered repolling in 7 polling stations in 5 TN assembly constituencies (Neyveli, Thiruvidaimarudur, Killiyoor, Arni and Bodinaickanur) on 16 April 2011.
Election officials kept a strong vigil amid allegations about money distribution to voters.The Election Commmission and the income tax department have seized a total of Rs54.17 crore "unaccounted money" so far in the run up to the elections in Tamil Nadu.While the EC's Flying Squad seized a total of Rs29.87 crore, its surveillance team recovered another Rs9.24 crore. The IT department, which is working closely with the EC, also seized Rs15.06 crore

TN polls: For party cadre, job isn't over yet
State Assembly elections was over on April 13,however,dedicated party workers are now keeping a round-the-clock vigil at the various counting centres where the EVMs have been locked up in safe rooms and guarded by armed police and para-military forces. The vigil will go on till May 13, when the room will be opened and the EVMs taken out for counting of votes
